Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s development project improves safety and brings cost savings

Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency enables functioning, efficient and safe journeys and transport. As a government agency, it is responsible for Finland's roads, railways and waterways as well as for the comprehensive development of the transport system.

Together with the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, we are developing next-generation rail network condition management systems. The aim of the comprehensive project is to improve the safety of rail transport, the efficiency of maintenance, automation and data collection. The cooperation is part of the extensive digitalization project portfolio of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.

The development project improves the condition management of the railway network and the management of related information. The new systems enable efficient and automated data collection, processing and analysis.

With the help of automation and analytics, maintenance measures can be planned and targeted in more detail. This way, deviations observed can be addressed even before the occurrence of disturbances. The system is also aimed at significant cost savings.

"We are very pleased with twoday's proactivity and user-driven approach to driving the development project forward. The project has progressed rapidly to a concrete level, and we have seen tangible results. When creating a completely new system without a clear role model, it is important to identify the appropriate user needs and translate them into concrete action quickly. twoday has succeeded very well in its work!” says Sami Mäkinen, Project Manager at the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.

The multi-supplier environment sets its own challenges for the teams. A good result can only be built with the seamless cooperation of all the teams, without partial optimizations. Teams from different business cultures need to find a common way of working and pulling together. We at twoday have an immediate and respectful working atmosphere and way of working, which makes for an excellent basis for cooperation.

The project is also of major economic importance. The value of the three-year contract is EUR 1.5 million. We are humbled and grateful for the trust placed in us, but at the same time we are proud of how we can develop our common transport infrastructure.
